Hotel Acuazul

Varadero, in Cuba, is one of the most popular tourist spots in the entire Caribbean, and why is that, you may ask? Well, Varadero brings tourists in droves for its incredible waters, its fantastic beaches, and the insane amount of hotels and resorts that have cropped up because of the waters and beaches. Guests staying at the Hotel Acuazul will find that they have access to a pool, bars/lounges in various spots on-site, a decent variety of restaurants. Guests to this hotel also have the benefit of there being a golf course in the area. It should also be a pleasing notion that each room has a balcony that faces out, so that guests can greet the day with a fantastic view from their balcony.

Hotel Acuazul Reviews

It's worth every penny
We stayed in this resort after having spent some nights in other resorts. As a whole it's worth your money. Setting wise, it's really convenient to other facilities (market, stores). The cuisine and service were alright. Suite wasn't flawless however still alright. Shore is somewhat away however not an issue. Suggest.

Back again Mar 18-May 1/14. Main foyer furniture all new, still only 1 lift working, interwebs back working. Former pool side bar is Now sandwich station, front desk bar is Now all-inclusive, Was provided suite on 5th floor with 2 balconies looking over pool, very tough to get rid of tp with 1 flush of washroom. Always many hot water. This is 3rd visit ( last 3 years ) and bellhop and my former housekeeper recognized & greeted me back. Really courteous personnel. Excellent pr guy, really courteous. Ocean bar has been moved. Would endorse this resort for a great holiday. Really noisy French visitors.

Excelent value
I have been there 4 times. The suites are spotless. Personnel from bellboy. Reception, bar staff kitchen staff, servers & female servers, aii work diligently to please visitors tip or no leaving gratuities. The cafeteria is sufficient. Always variety of 2-3 different meats such as fish, pork, chicken, vegetables, veggies, great variety of breads, ice cream, rise putting, tropical fruit. Pasta. Wine & beer served with lunch & supper. Papa noel awesome guy, always smiling & cheering visitors. Suggest to have tropical fruit juice for brunch & lunch. Also it would be appreciated if they had Live supper music too. Sandwich station needs more selection I. E. Pizza & French fries once in a while. Reception is great too sadly some time they run out of change (exchanging $) this isn't adequate. Pool guy is really courteous older guy. Keeps the landscaping & pool safe Animacion is restricted : they have to have at least 2 folks all times busy months or slow months. They have to have Live performances daily too even slow months. D. J. & machine are really supportive mary & dunia are excellent bar staff. Ocean bar have to supply frigid beer preferably Crystal, shore assistant & lifeguard have to be punctual. Suggest security should limit & enforce. Drinking & rowdiness. Often Russians sits by pool & drink until pissed drunk should not be permitted sound have to be kept Under check after 12 12 AM. As a whole excellent bang for the buck spent for a 2*resort situated to the town centre Varadero

Excellent stay!
This is only a 3 star resort but the personnel treats you enjoy you were at a 5. Our stay began with the bellboy greeting us with drinks while checking in. Please note; this is an older budget resort, sluggish lift…. But the service and personnel are awesome. The meals are awesome as cuban hotel cuisine goes. The suites are older however spotless. The only small problem I had was at the refreshment cafe, it is only open restricted hours, the cook is not courteous or accommodating and you gotta wait for a while to get your order in. There is no deep fryer so burgers without fries. The oceanfront is on the other side of the street and building away but the big traveler flea market is really close. I'd have no bookings booking there again.

Made fantastic friends with folks working at resort, therefor service was fantastic
This was my third visit at Acuazul. My first vacation was February 31-March 8. The setting is prime! Close by to all the greatest shopping and small cafe. Throughout my first vacation I made friends with many residents and kept in touch trough email and met up with them again when I returned in May. Some of the personnel aren't the most approachable, however if you speak to them and tip it's excellent. The suites are nothing lavish, however most folks do not go to Cuba to stay in their suites the entire time. The meals are mediocre, so would suggest going out for supper. Lots of excellent restaurants on the strip. The oceanfront is awesome, and is really short a short walk, in comparison to some hotels. The bar on the ocean was moved a tiny out of the way in comparison to my first vacation, however they're more than likely constructing a new one by next year. I love love love this resort, not since its lavish, however due to my friends there and the setting. If you go there, just smile and enjoy every minute, cause time insects:). I look forward to return again next March.

It isn't a 5 star although an excellent place just the same
I spent 14 days at Acuazul and I had a great time. The resort is spotless and safe and much better than I had anticipated for what is rated as a two star. If you are interested in a budget vacation this is an excellent selection. I read many terrible reviews and my response is. If you would like a 5 star then pay for a 5 star. The meals were alright and the personnel were courteous and polite. The shore was awesome and for the money it was money well spent! If you are a demanding and annoying guest go elsewhere!

Resort Acuazul
We spent seven days at resort Acuazul at the end of March and had an amazing time. We had been to Varadero 2 years prior and stayed out of community, down the freeway at a larger hotel. This time we wished to try staying to the town centre. Upon arrival it was about 2 AM and the place was pretty abandoned, the streets were dark and a tiny creepy. We were sort of worried about what type of place we had reserved. In the morning we were pleasently amazed. The suites were spotless, pleasant view, had hotwater daily except 1. We had 6 folks in our company, one suite was missing a shower drape, which was restored the following day, the other suite was missing a washroom seat, which they got use to not having. We did not go to Cuba to stay in our suites. There is a cafeteria restaurant which served a variety of meat, rice, potatoes, salads, confectionaries, and so on. Not amazing however nobody starved, you can always find enough to eat. We heard the same thing all over, the cuisine is not excellent. We had a bite at the sandwich station very much. It was often open from 10 AM-6 PM and served sausages, burgers, barbecued sandwiches, pizza, and so on. The personnel at the all-inclusive bar was marvelous, so courteous and always smiling. On the tables they had a list of beverages that you could order with the ingredients in English. Amusement at night was alright, pleasant way to end the day. Since it's a smaller resort with less folks you not often had to wait for beverages and the ladies were eager to supply you. The all-inclusive bar was open until 12 AM. Then you could go to the bar by the front desk where beer was $1. The setting is great, right to the town centre, two streets from the shore, two flee markets close by. Pleasant to be able to step out of the resort and be on the main road if you just wished to go for a walk. It's on 13 Ave and the end of to the town centre is about 64th Ave. We took a Horse and buggy to the end one day for $3. 50 each and walked back stopping at flee markets and stores along the way. The shore was wonderful, smaller than the larger hotels however more than enough room. The water was so warm and wonderful. It was pleasant being not too far from the shore, we went down at night to take photos of the twilight. We would not return only since we'd like to try a different hotel. We would return due to the courteous personnel. Great hotel to stay for setting, standard suites and being in Cuba. If you would like a 5 star do not stay here, nothing lavish. We're not picky so it worked for us.

Great
It is an excellent resort. Spotless, pleasant personnel, and inexpensive price. I paid $35 per nigth with every thing included (all-inclusive) it also has some facilities at the shore with are for free. I think that based on the price it is a real bargain. I did not see any roach or rats or anything comparable. I have been there two times and the first one the meals were superior to the last one. I think that they exchanged of manager and the last one is cutting of the budget for the cuisine. However if you don't like what they have, close by you May purchase pizza for $1 or 2 they're excellent. The oceanfront is exelent withe sand and Blue ocean. Is like a fantasy

What an excellent place!
We just got back from another excellent week at the Acuazul. This site is a Gem. A lot of Canadians retur every year and stay for weeks at a time. On a previous visit there were 70 Canadians, 70 Russians and 60 czechs staying at the resort. A few of the visitors had some trouble with over- consumption of liquor the day of our arrival or two, however they were cut off and security made certain it did not happen again. Our accomodations were, charming and big with 2 balconies. And an excellent scenery of the sea. Extra cushions were quickly delivered and the suite was well tidied daily. Cuisine was common cuban fare. Excellent toast and eggs at brunch. Pack some granola bars and bran to take to dining suite in supermarket containers-excellent with the steamed milk from the coffee-cocktail dispenser. Great hot dogs and burgers at the swimming pool side bar and even better ones at the resort Varazul right across the hallway on their front patio patio, fries too. 1 cuc each. Change your money at the cadeca at the airport before you board the bus shuttle to resort. Exchange rate thereis 73 cuc for 100 can. Dollars. Resort rate was 68 cuc for 100 can. Dollars, so much better than some resorts. Pool beverages are served in flimsy plastic mugs so purchase two plastic supermarket mugs to keep your drink from blowing over. Also a small ashtray if you need one or purchase one for a peso at one of the close by flea markets. Marvelous courteous folks. Bare in mind that the mediocre monthly wage for these resort employees is comparable to about 12 cuc. So do not go overboard with the leaving gratuities. About we more than likely went through 10 cuc a day on tips for bar personnel, dining suite folks and so on. Plus a tip for housekeeper and maitre D' on last evening. If you're able to take a few cosmetic things for the ladies at reception and bars. They love black pantihose and brightly coloured nail polish and lipsticks and also other standard cosmetic and toiletry things available at the supermarket. Pack them in sheer tulle supermarket bags. I really can not beleive that some of the folks that have written poor testimonials of the Acuazul honestly stayed at the same place. This was our second vacation there and I will certainly be returning. Excellent cappacino, especially at front desk bar. A lot of Canadians have found this place. Excellent value. Marvelous setting, right in the heart of community. Get out and walk around daily.

Pleasant midrange choice in Varadero
Resort Acuazul is a pleasant midrange resort in Varadero. For the better part my stay there was better than anticipated and my experience in the facility was lovely Advantages: Setting ( situated in a Central part of Varadero 1 building away from the golden sand shorelines, close by to standard stores, bars, restaurants, shuttle stops, trip agencies) Suites: my suite situated on the 3rd floor was decently sized, spotless, tastefully furnished, road facing patio with all the offerings a 3 star resort provides such as cable television, cooling air conditioning, safe, and everyday tidying. Amenities : while not the the largest in size I found the main foyer to be always spotless offering bar service from 10 AM til 2 AM, medium sized pool with a lounging area and stage for day or evening performances. Public areas of resort were always kept clean/inviting Cons: Client service for the better part was non existent, with few exceptions a lot of of the personnel members appeared bored and indicated to little interest in doing their jobs. I found the front desk staff on duty were particularly hostile/unhelpful Beverages were often mixed with water and cuisine while adequate got lame after 7 days.
